Boulaye Dia, Iervolino’s appeal: “We hope he stays at Salernitana.”
Despite the recent redemption, the market sirens have not fallen silent.
Boulaye Dia is still Salernitana’s center forward, after the Campani exercised the right for his redemption at the end of June. However, the Senegalese national continues to be at the center of the soccer market, so much so that his president Danilo Iervolino has decided to send him a full-blown appeal.
“Our hope is that Dia decides to stay at Salerno,” Iervolino explained to ‘Sky Sport’ without mincing words, “but the future does not depend on us, since there is a rescission clause. We in any case really hope that he stays at Salernitana. We redeemed him from Villarreal precisely because we consider him fundamental to our team.”
“Our goal, in a phase of the soccer market like this one that is dominated by waiting, was to be able to retain the pivots of the team. We wanted to confirm our skeleton, so we could then make our group even more competitive,” Iervolino added. “We still have goals, such as a first forward. But the soccer market is still long and we will take advantage of every opportunity. I have the conviction that the next Salernitana will be stronger than the one from last season.”
“The Unione Sportiva Salernitana has exercised the purchase option on the footballer Boulaye Dia, who played on loan during the 2022/23 season with the Italian team,” was the statement issued by the Granata club at the time of the redemption. “Villarreal CF wishes to thank Dia for his professionalism and commitment during his time as a club player, in which he played 35 games and scored 7 goals, and wishes him good luck in his new phase”: this, instead, was the note issued by the Spanish club.
