Juventus, breakup with Leonardo Bonucci doesn’t go down well with a former Bianconero: harsh words
Momo Sissoko spares no criticism of Juventus
Twenty-four hours after the news broke, the definitive break between Juventus and Leonardo Bonucci continues to make noise, with the defender learning directly from Cristiano Giuntoli and Giovanni Manna during his vacation in Tuscany that he will not be able to train with the team nor will he be able to follow them on the American tour.
Momo Sissoko, who in the 2010/11 season shared the locker room with Bonucci and the other Juventini players of the time, did not spare harsh criticism of the decision to put the now former captain out of the squad: “He could still continue with Juve,” he told ‘Il BiancoNero.’ “I don’t know the dynamics well, but from the outside it looks like Juve wanted to exclude him completely and a player like him, who has given so much to this club, does not deserve it. It’s not fair.”
Bonucci virtually ended his Juventus experience that began in 2010, after a transfer from Bari, and was only interrupted in 2017/18, with the controversial year at AC Milan before returning to the Continassa. With Juventus, he won 8 league titles, 4 Italian Cups and 5 Italian Super Cups. Thanks to his performances with the Juve jersey, he earned a permanent place on the national team, winning the 2020 European Championships (played in summer 2021), during which he was decisive thanks to scoring the 1-1 goal and taking one of the final penalties in the decisive match against England at Wembley.
Now, however, he will have to look for another team: having dropped the Lazio hypothesis, the ball has passed to manager Alessandro Lucci: the goal is to find a club willing to give him a starting jersey, in order to also convince coach Roberto Mancini to call Bonucci to the national team for Euro 2024.
