Varese reinforces itself under the basket
Varese Basketball has announced an important reinforcement under the basket. In fact, the Lombard club has signed Scott Ulaneo, a former Happy Casa Brindisi center.
“Pallacanestro Varese is happy to announce the agreement with the athlete Scott Ulaneo. A center, class of ’98, he knows how to combine athleticism and dynamism by putting himself at the service of his teammates. He arrives in the shadow of Sacro Monte after a season spent in Cento in Serie A2,” reads the note issued by the white-and-red club.
“Born in Rome to an Italian father and an English mother, he began his youth experience right in the Capital in the ranks of Stella Azzurra with which he won, in 2015, the Italian Under-19 Championship of Excellence. Since 2016 he continues his development path moving to the United States playing first two seasons with Seattle University, then with Hawaii Pacific University in NCAA2 and then ending his college career always in NCAA2 at 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds average with Davenport University. In 2021 he returned to Italy, signing his first professional contract with Brindisi and thus making his debut for the first time in both the LBA and Basketball Champions League. In February 2022 he is traded on loan to Eurobasket Roma ending his year at 8.2 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest. In the 2022-2023 season he remains in A2, however, switching to Cento. By putting up 4.2 points and 3.8 rebounds he results among the protagonists of a season ended only with the elimination in the promotion playoffs.”
Matteo Jemoli, Pallacanestro Varese scouting manager, commented on the new acquisition: “Scott is a very interesting guy. His main characteristics are energy and dynamism that added to his young age make him an ideal profile for our project and our type of game. We look forward to seeing him in Varese.”
