MotoGp, changes in qualifying from the next Grand Prix

MotoGp has announced a change in qualifying, which will come into effect as early as the next Grand Prix, scheduled to be held at Silverstone on August 6.

Following the unanimous agreement of all MotoGP teams, the Grand Prix Commission has taken action and will change its format with immediate effect. The first practice sessions will no longer be valid to determine which riders will directly access Q2, but will revert to simply being a free practice session, with the name Free Practice 1 (FP1).

The duration will remain the same, which is 45 minutes. In this way, the second session will be the only one where it will really be determined which drivers will enter Q2. These practice sessions will be extended to 60 minutes.

Finally, the Saturday morning session, before qualifying and Sprint, will last 30 minutes and will be free, having no effect on the qualifying order and will be renamed Free Practice 2 (FP2).

The new MotoGP schedule:

– Friday:

– Free Practice 1 (FP1): 45 min

– Practice (PR): 60 min, timed for entry into Q2

– Saturday:

– Free Practice 2 (FP2): 30 min

– Qualifying 1 (Q1): 15 min

– Qualifying 2 (Q2): 15 min

– MotoGP Tissot Sprint (SPR)

– Sunday:

– Warm up: 10 min

– Race
