Wilfried Gnonto stays away from the A Series.

The relegation of Leeds, the club where he played last season, and rumors that he was being approached by Serie A clubs such as Torino and, to a lesser extent, Juventus, do not seem to have changed much in the plans of Wilfried Gnonto, who is aiming to play in the Premier League again in 2023/24.

According to reports from ‘Sportmediaset,’ Everton is still interested in the performance of the 2003 class, but does not want to go beyond the offer of 18 million euros, plus 6 in bonuses, promised to Leeds in recent days. In this sense, Aston Villa is back to hope: the Birmingham club would have initiated contacts with the young player’s entourage, in order to convince him to accept wearing the Villans’ uniform instead of the Toffees’.

Gnonto, born in Verbania on November 5, 2003, grew up at Inter Milan but has never played an official Serie A match. In 2020, in fact, the Nerazzurri sold him to Zurich, Switzerland, where he managed to establish himself to such an extent that he won a permanent place on the national team.

In summer 2022, the move to Leeds: 24 appearances and 2 goals in the Premier League, with convincing performances but not enough to avoid relegation for the Peacocks, who returned to the Championship after three seasons in the top flight. Gnonto, to date, is one of four players to have played for the Italian national team without playing in Serie A: the others are Marco Verratti, Vincenzo Grifo and Mateo Retegui, although the latter is very close to wearing the jersey of a club in Italy’s top division, Genoa.
