Inter, Juan Cuadrado’s arrival made official
Official: Juan Cuadrado is a new Inter Milan player
After the signings of Bisseck, Thuram, and Frattesi, Inter made official the zero-parameter arrival of Juan Cuadrado. The Colombian outfielder, after eight seasons at Juventus, has signed a one-year contract with the Nerazzurri.
“Experience, great desire to win and joy: these are the main characteristics of Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, born in Necoclí, Colombia, on May 26, 1988. Juan’s childhood was marked by hardship: as a child Cuadrado helped his mother pack fruit that she sold at the market. His desire to emerge, however, led him to seek joy and happiness in soccer.
At 13 he joined the youth sector of Atletico Urabá, where he played as a striker and became the team’s top scorer, until Nelson Gallego, the club’s founder, suggested he move to the outside.
Nicknamed “Vespa,” Cuadrado transformed into a technical winger skilled in one-on-one, coached to exhaustion in the ranks of Independiente Medellín, the team with which he made his debut in professional soccer. From Medellín, Cuadrado arrives in Italy, destination Udinese: with the Friulani he plays 24 games in two years, hitting a historic Champions League qualification in his second season.
Francesco Guidolin’s school forges and improves him: in 2011 he moves to Lecce, where he definitively explodes and gets noticed by Fiorentina. In Tuscany he spends two and a half seasons, then takes off to London: with Chelsea, the Colombian wins the first trophies of his career, the 2015 League Cup and Premier League. Cuadrado, however, struggled to find space in England: so he moved on to Juventus, with whom he spent eight years, winning a total of 11 trophies.
The fifth Colombian in Inter’s history, Cuadrado made 115 appearances in the Cafeteros’ jersey, second all-time behind only David Ospina.
Technical, pliant and reliable, Juan is ready for a new adventure in Nerazzurri colors.
#WelcomeJuan” this is the statement issued by the Nerazzurri club.
