Sean McDermott is a new player for Varese Basketball

Here is the statement with which Varese Basketball announced the arrival of U.S. forward Sean McDermott.

“Pallacanestro Varese is happy to announce the agreement with Sean McDermott.
The class ’96 athlete lands for the first time in Europe after experiences in the NBA and G-League. The U.S. forward brings reliability in three-point shooting as well as energy in solutions near the iron.

Matteo Jemoli, Pallacanestro Varese scouting manager:
“We are very happy to have reached an agreement with Sean. He is a player who makes 3-point shooting and dynamism his main gifts in addition to an excellent basketball IQ. We are happy that he has decided to start his European career in Varese after having good seasons in the G-League and we look forward to seeing him play in the red and white colors.”

Career:
A native of Anderson, Indiana, he took his first steps on the hardwood at Pendleton Heights High School finishing his senior year averaging 16.0 points and 6.6 rebounds. When his high school experience ended, the player landed at Butler University. With the Bulldogs he will spend five years earning increasing minutes due to his dangerousness on the outside shot (over 40 percent in NCAA). His 11.7 points and 6.3 rebounds in his final college season do not leave the NBA world indifferent, and in September 2020 he signs a two-way contract with the Memphis Grizzlies. He takes the floor 18 times scoring 2.2 points in an average of 8.8 minutes. In the same season he plays 6 games in the G-League with the Memphis Hustle with 17.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest.
His career continued over the next two seasons with the Hustles themselves after signing a contract as an affiliate player.
In 2021-2022 he put up 8.4 points with 43.6 percent from three, while in his final season he took the court 39 times scoring 9.8 points on average.”
