VL Pesaro, a High-Profile Friendly Match to Mark Its 80th Anniversary

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the club’s founding in 1946, VL Pesaro has organized a prestigious friendly match that will take place on Friday, September 11, at 8:00 p.m. at the PalaMegabox, as part of a full-fledged gala evening: The opponent will be Virtus Bologna, which has accepted the invitation to participate in the celebratory event for the club—originally founded as Victoria Pesaro and renamed VL in 1965 following its merger with Libertas.
The gala evening will be the culmination of a preseason that begins on Sunday, August 16, with the team gathering in Pesaro and undergoing the customary medical exams, followed the next day by the departure for the training camp in Carpegna, where the red-and-whites will train with open doors until the following Sunday, August 23.
The first scheduled friendly match will see VL take on Loreto Pesaro in a derby in late August, with tip-off set for Saturday, August 29, at 6:00 p.m. at the PalaMegabox. The following weekend, on Friday, September 4, and Saturday, September 5, the team coached by Giorgio Valli will take the court in Lignano Sabbiadoro for the Bortoluzzi Memorial-ButanGas Trophy: at 9:15 p.m. on Friday, September 4, they’ll face UEB Gesteco Cividale, while at 4:15 p.m. or 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, the red-and-whites will take on either Unieuro Forlì or Gemini Mestre.
On Wednesday, September 9, at 8:30 p.m. at the Palestra Fontanelle in Riccione, they will face Dole Basket Rimini—a matchup that comes about 48 hours before the big showdown against Virtus, a matchup that hasn’t appeared on the schedule since Pesaro’s last season in Serie A, the 2023–2024 season.
