Cantù announces a reinforcement under the basket
Cantù Basketball places a blow under the basket. In fact, the Lombard club has made official the signing of American Solomon Young.
“The club is happy to announce that it has signed U.S. power forward Solomon Young for next season,” reads the note issued by the biancoblù club.
Born on April 22, 1998 in Sacramento, California, Young is back from an excellent season in Bamberg, Germany, which ended with 9.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game average. The long player also reached the Fiba Europe Cup quarterfinals with the German outfit, in which he averaged 6.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per match.
“Solomon Young,” comments Acqua S. Bernardo Sporting Director Fabrizio Frates, “is a multidimensional power forward who can attack the area and hit from three-point range. He puts great energy into his game, physicality and intensity, as well as being a solid rebounder with a great attitude on the court. We are very happy that he agreed to come to Cantù, after having been in an important club like Bamberg. Besides the purely technical aspects, I think he has grasped the goodness of our project in a much more general sense.”
“I am excited,” comments Solomon Young, “to continue my career in Italy and, by the way, in a prestigious club like Cantù. I am sure that I will be able to continue to improve my game and that we will achieve excellent team results.”
After attending high school in Sacramento, Young began college in 2016 at Iowa State University with which he won the Big 12 on two occasions. In 2019/2020 he averaged 9.8 points per game to which he added 3.9 rebounds per contest, figures that improved in his senior year (2020/2021) closed with 10.7 points and 4.8 rebounds per challenge average.
In the summer of 2021 he made his debut in Europe, in the Belgian team Leuven Bears, with whom he reached the playoff semifinals registering 11.6 points and 4.9 rebounds average per contest thus earning the call from a prestigious club like Bamberg.
