Mateo Retegui extols Genoa: “Best possible solution”
His first words as a red-blue are full of emotion.
Mateo Retegui to Genoa is a done deal. The Italian national team striker scored two goals in his first three appearances in the Azzurri, but had never played in Serie A. He will do so thanks to the Grifone, which will pay about 15 million euros into the coffers of Boca Juniors. And the player, meanwhile, has made clear all his excitement for the adventure that is about to begin.
“I am really happy about what is about to happen to me,” Retegui told the microphones of ‘ESPN.’ “Playing in Europe was a dream that I have cherished since I was a child, and now it is about to come true. The decision about Genoa is the result of reflections made with my family, it seemed the best solution. I will play for a great club, where I know I will learn a lot. I also want to be closer to Italian soccer and grow professionally. I am happy.”
Also advising him about Genoa was another great bomber in Rossoblù history, Diego Milito. “He had a certain weight in my decision,” Retegui confessed. My family established important contacts with him, and then we met him. He spoke very well to me both about the club and the city of Genoa. That is why I leave with great tranquility, I want to play and win. But I will arrive with my feet on the ground, and with the goal of reasoning day by day.”
