Varese basketball, American solution for the bench
He is the son of R.C Buford, Popovich’s longtime deputy in San Antonio
After the termination of the relationship with Matt Brase, Varese Basketball management is looking for the new coach to whom it will entrust the team. According to La Prealpina, the search is reportedly over and Luis Scola has made his choice.
The right name would be Chase Buford. Class of 1988, he spent the last two seasons in Australia where he won two consecutive championships at the helm of the Sydney Kings. While waiting for a call from the NBA (which has not come), it seems he has decided to put himself on the line in Italy, to gain additional experience to add to his still young career. This could prove to be an ideal solution to further improve himself in a league where there is a lot to learn, especially if one is still quite young (Chase Buford is 34 years old).
Chase Buford is the son of R.C Buford, longtime general manager of the San Antonio Spurs and longtime right-hand man of coach Gregg Popovich. For Varese, then, a real possibility of still having an American coach at the helm of the team for the 2023/24 season. Another gamble for Scola, who seems to want to continue his idea of globalizing Openjobmetis Varese. At this point, only developments and, most importantly, the official announcement by the company are awaited. Chase Buford is a very intriguing name with a lot of desire to emerge, just like Varese.
