Juventus, Max Allegri lapidary on Paul Pogba
The Frenchman is coming off a very complicated season
Last season, in fact, Pogba was never seen on the field (10 appearances with not a single goal scored). This should be the season of redemption but Allegri is curbing enthusiasm. Directly from American soil, the Bianconeri coach explains how it will take time and patience to get the best Pogba back.
“Not having had a player like Paul available for practically the whole season was definitely penalizing. Unfortunately, at this stage he is doing differentiated work: the goal is to try to get him back as soon as possible, but at the moment we don’t know when he will be able to return to training with the rest of the team,” his clear words to Gazzetta dello Sport.
But it doesn’t end there. Pogba is on tour with Juventus but will not be seen on the field: “No, I don’t think I can use him in the next two tests against AC Milan and Real Madrid. He has practically never worked with us, he is progressing well but we need caution because the same thing happened last year: everything seemed to be okay and then he would stop. When I see him running I think he is better, however from here to playing there is a long way. We will have to wait at least a month to see if he can be available to the team.” In short, time is still needed to count on the real Pogba, Allegri’s word.
