A very serious bereavement for world soccer: Trevor Francis has died. He had also played in Italy, with Sampdoria and Atalanta, after winning two Champions Cups with Nottingham Forest.

“Trevor Francis has died at the age of 69. He had a heart attack in his apartment in Spain this morning. It was a huge shock for everyone. We are all very upset. He was a legendary soccer player but also an extremely kind person,” reads a note attributed to the family.

The former bomber had already suffered a heart attack 11 years ago and had kept fit with daily walks. According to his spokesman, “he was really enjoying life after finally getting over the death of his wife.” Helen passed away in 2017 after a battle with cancer.
