Lorenzo Musetti wants an encore in Hamburg
Lorenzo Musetti returns to the Hamburg ATP 500 as defending champion. In fact, the Carrara-based tennis player won the last edition of the German tournament by defeating current world number one Carlos Alcaraz in the final and winning his first career ATP title. “I’m obviously looking forward to being here and trying to defend the title,” he stressed to the tournament’s official channels.
The Italian is coming off a semifinal in the ATP 250 in Bastad, where he was defeated by Casper Ruud: “It was good, my form is good.”
“Winning the first title gave me a lot of confidence, it was a kind of beginning for me, one of the best moments of my career,” Musetti continued. “It confirmed that I can be successful at this level. Since then I have become more solid and focused, stronger physically and also mentally, but I am working every day to get better and better.”
The number two Italian tennis player is hoping for an encore in Hamburg: “It was unique and it’s special to come back here. And I would love to win the title again. That’s the goal.”
