Pistoia doesn’t let Varnado get away

The newly promoted Pistoia Basket 2000 announced that it has reached an agreement also for the 2023/24 season with Jordon Malik Varnado.

The numbers for the 2022/23 season say he finished the regular season with 16.9 points (just under 50% from 2) and 7.3 rebounds on average, rising to 19 and 8.2 in the clock phase with 34′ of average usage (also skipping a game) to reach the apotheosis of the playoffs: 21 points on average in the 13 games played in almost 35′ of presence on the court seasoned by 46% from 2, 40% from 3 and 8.5 rebounds per game. Numbers that earned him the undisputed title of Mvp of the final won 3-1 against Reale Mutua Torino.

“We start again with a player who knows us, who knows what it means to play in this square while we know how incredible an added value he was in the ride that allowed us to win promotion and it is clear that he will be a fundamental pillar of the team we are building. The roster, from the beginning, we thought of it as a function of him, net of having the certainty or not of reconfirming him, because between staff and society we always had the hope that this would happen, so it was imagined as him being in the group. That’s why it is a piece that fits perfectly with the technical ideas of the team,” said Nicola Brienza.

“On Jordon there is little to say: we are bringing back to Pistoia the Mvp of the playoff finals and it is a beautiful message that the club gives to the whole city and the fans, we can’t wait to embrace him again and to be able to start the new year still with Varnado in the red and white jersey,” concluded the helmsman of the Tuscans.
