Pallacanestro Reggiana has announced the signing of a new playmaker: he is American Briante Weber.
“Pallacanestro Reggiana announces that it has reached an agreement for the 2023/2024 season with the athlete Briante Weber,” reads the note issued by the Emilian club.
A 30-year-old point guard of 188 centimeters in height, after coming out ofVirginia Commonwealth College in 2015, Weber has collected in his career 45 appearances in the NBA with the jerseys of Memphis, Miami, Charlotte, Golden State and Houston, before coming to Europe in the second half of the 2018/2019 season with the Olympiacos jersey, with which he played the Euroleague.
Subsequently, he continued his career in France at Levallois Metropolitans first and then at Gravellines Dunkirk (interspersing the two experiences with a brief move to Brampton in Canada).
Last season, after starting the league in Israel with Bnei Herzliya, he finished the year in Turkey’s top league with Buyukcekmece, producing 12.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.6 steals per game.
Coach Dimitris Priftis describes him as follows, “With Briante’s graft we are going to significantly improve our outside package. He is a player with excellent defensive skills and special characteristics: he plays very well in transition and at a high pace, he can score but also create for his teammates, but above all he is a great competitor and will bring leadership, character and aggressiveness to our team.”
These are the words of Briante Weber: “I am starting the ninth year of my career and I am happy to do it with the jersey of Pallacanestro Reggiana. I am galvanized by the idea of playing for Coach Priftis, I will try to bring my attitude, my “Mamba Mentality” right to the place where in fact it was born. I don’t want to add much more; I hope it will be a fun season where we all stay healthy and conquer the goals we set for ourselves. I will do everything so that the fans appreciate the energy with which I will take the court. Go Reggio!”
