SuperLega Super Cup to be played in Biella
Del Monte SuperLega Super Cup 2023 in Biella
Biella will be the host of the Del Monte Supercoppa SuperLega 2023. The first title of the 2023/24 season will be played in the Piedmontese city on October 31 (Semifinals) and November 1, 2023 (Final). The competition will be organized by the Volleyball League Serie A in collaboration with the Piedmont Region, the City of Biella, the FIPAV Piedmont Regional Committee and the Ticino Sesia Tanaro Territorial Committee.
The theater for the 28th SuperLega Super Cup will be the “Biella Forum,” a 5,000-seat facility currently under renovation, ready to show off its new look just for the event. The first trophy of the season will be staged between the second (Oct. 29) and third (Nov. 3) day of the Regular Season of SuperLega Credem Banca. The dates of the competition (Oct. 31 and Nov. 1) had already been announced in July during the Volley Mercato, along with the Semifinal pairings of the four participating teams: in addition to the two Scudetto Finalists, Itas Trentino and Cucine Lube Civitanova, Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza, qualified as the winner of the Del Monte Coppa Italia 2022/23, and Sir Susa Vim Perugia, the best-ranked team in the Regular Season, will participate in the Del Monte Supercoppa. In the Semifinals on Tuesday, Oct. 31, Italian champions Itas Trentino will meet Sir Susa Vim Perugia in the match that will open the Final Four, while Cucine Lube Civitanova will face Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza: a place in the Final on Wednesday, Nov. 1, is up for grabs.
The words of the President of the Volleyball League Serie A Massimo Righi: “We have enthusiastically accepted the candidature of the Municipality of Biella and I would like to thank the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor for wanting to host this important event of the Volleyball League Serie A, for their availability and for immediately guaranteeing an effective and splendid collaboration, as well as sharing the strong positive values expressed by our sports movement. The success achieved by the pre-Championship tournament organized in Biella last season certainly gave due credit to the concrete and passionate commitment of local institutions, Scuola Pallavolo Biellese and other partners. The Volleyball League Serie A continues to promote top volleyball, choosing to offer the great spectacle of the SuperLega Men’s Volleyball Events to new audiences, in cities where Serie A teams are not already present, and collaborating in synergy with solid and passionate organizational realities of that territory. A wonderful opportunity enthusiastically shared by the four participating teams, who will play the Del Monte® Supercoppa on a neutral court enhancing the growth and spread of volleyball: a precise signal of our movement, which is constantly expanding.”
