Fernando Alonso’s words on the eve of the Belgian GP

After a very positive start to the season, Aston Martin and Fernando Alonso have suffered a sharp setback in the last few races, partly due to the numerous updates introduced by the other teams, McLaren and Mercedes above all. On the eve of the Belgian GP, the Spanish driver spoke bluntly about the recent difficult period.

“We knew we would have difficulties, but this period will make us even stronger. We are humble and work hard, and I am convinced that the team will show that it can bring out the best. We will improve the car in the coming months with the goal of taking some more satisfaction from it. At Spa we will go into the race without any indications and that will make it even more interesting,” the Aston Martin driver began.

“We are looking forward to racing and hope to bounce back this weekend with a good result. We will have to deal with another sprint weekend, so we will only have one free practice session before qualifying to optimize everything, which is an unknown for everyone,” added the Spaniard.

“In Budapest we didn’t have an easy weekend and ninth place was the best we could do. In Belgium it will be a very different race because of the high speed on this circuit. I’ve always loved racing at Spa and I’m looking forward to this challenge,” Fernando Alonso summed up.
