Ferrari, Frederic Vasseur’s fears ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix

Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur spoke ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix weekend at the Shanghai circuit, where Formula 1 returns after five years, moreover with the track’s asphalt redone, and where the first sprint race of this year’s world championship is scheduled. Here are Vasseur’s words, quotes quoted by formulapassion.co.uk.

“We find the Shanghai track again after so many years and undoubtedly what we have in front of us is a very challenging weekend. We will have to deal with several concomitant factors: the cars of the current generation will be making their debut on this circuit, but we will only have one free practice session before we play for positions on the Sprint grid.”

“Another strong question mark will be related to the conditions of the asphalt, which could be more bumpy than we remember. As always with this weekend format, it will be crucial to have worked well at home, and as far as we are concerned we will also have to improve on the management of the qualifying preparation lap, where we have not been perfect recently.”

“The goal with both Carlos and Charles is to maximize the potential of the car and bring home a solid result while trying to put pressure on our rivals,” Vasseur concluded. Ferrari has won four times in China but the last time was in 2013 with Fernando Alonso.
