Elisabetta Cocciaretto clinches a place in the semifinals in the Lausanne WTA, in the quarterfinals the 22-year-old from Marche, world number 42, beat Russian Elina Avanesyan, number 68, with a score of 7-5 6-3.

The first set was completely two-sided as Avanesyan even went ahead 5-0 but Elisabetta recovered and even overtook her opponent without conceding her even one set point and instead closing with the first one at her disposal.

The Russian is no longer able to hold serve, she will only manage to do so in the fifth game of the second set, but Cocciaretto loses it in turn in the second and fourth games, so the score is 2-2, but from 3-2 for the Russian the Italian strung four consecutive games, the decisive ones.

One hour and 35 minutes the duration of the match, with Elisabetta closing on the first match point and now in the semifinals she will face the winner between Anna Bondar from Hungary and Tamara Zidansek from Slovenia.
