Atalanta also convinces in England: 3-1 at Bournemouth
Convincing victory on English soil.
Atalanta raced to Bournemouth, where the Nerazzurri beat the hosts 3-1, giving good signs ahead of the season ready to begin. In the net for the orobici went Maehle, Koopmeiners and the confirmed Latte Lath: the class 1999 striker, given for almost certain to depart, continues to perform well in the Dea’s summer trials and tries to win the trust of Gian Piero Gasperini.
The first goal, signed in the 6th minute by Maehle, was the result of a tap-in by the Dane after a goal-cross hit by Koopmeiners. The same Dutchman is the author of the doubling in the 36th minute with a finesse on an assist from Lookman. The first half ended with Bournemouth halving the gap in the 38th minute thanks to Senesi, then in the 86th minute came Latte Lath’s signature with a nice turn from inside the area.
Of note was the fact that Rasmus Hojlund spent the entire friendly on the bench, the only one out of the 23 players summoned by Atalanta along with Zortea and third goalkeeper Rossi. The Dane continues to be on the way out, with PSG and especially Manchester United in the forefront to take over his tag.
Also on Saturday, Atalanta had moreover made official the arrival of El Bilal Touré, its new striker regardless of Hojlund’s future. The former Almeria man cost 28 million euros plus bonuses, a figure that sets a new record for the most expensive purchase Dea has ever afforded. It surpassed the previous record, which dates back to the time of the purchase from Sassuolo of Jeremie Boga (22 million). Moreover, the French-Oivorian has just said goodbye to the Nerazzurri, having been sold to Nice this week for 18 million euros. Lower, too, is the sum of 26 million, paid to Sampdoria and spent on the onerous loan (2018) and subsequent redemption (2020) of Duvan Zapata.
