Edinson Cavani leaves Europe and lands at Boca Juniors
The 36-year-old Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani, left free by Valencia, will play for Boca Juniors. This was announced by the Argentine club on its social channels.
Cavani, who will wear the number 10, will sign a contract until December 2024 and is expected in Buenos Aires in the coming hours to join his new teammates ahead of the Copa Libertadores round of 16. “Happy to have you home,” the club said in a message posted on its Twitter account, accompanied by a video of some goals and the new jersey.
A historical player of the Uruguayan selection (58 goals in 136 games), “El Matador” thus arrives in Argentina after terminating his contract with Valencia and having expressed on several occasions his desire to move to Boca Juniors.
Formerly of Palermo, Napoli, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Valencia, Cavani thus concludes his 17-year stay in Europe, where he scored a total of 367 goals among all competitions, racking up trophies with PSG (6 Ligue 1, 5 French Cups, 7 French Super Cups and 5 French League Cups between 2013 and 2020) but also winning a Coppa Italia with Napoli in 2011-2012.
