Sbk: Bautista smiles, Petrucci puts on a show, Razgatlioglu k.o.
Bautista wins race-2 in Most and stretches in the standings
The Czech Republic Round of the World Superbike Championship, the eighth race weekend of the year, ends with Alvaro Bautista’s success in race-2: for the reigning world champion it is an important treble, coming after his 12th place in race-1 and third in the Superpole race.
The Ducati centaur preceded, in the finishing order, an excellent Danilo Petrucci (also on the Panigale V4R), who anticipated in a spectacular sprint for second place Kawasaki standard bearer Jonathan Rea. Disappointment for Toprak Razgatlioglu, who when he seemed launched toward a success that would definitively reopen the championship lost the rear of his Yamaha coming out of a chicane, ending up on the ground and finding himself forced to retire.
In the standings, the points separating the Spaniard and the Turk thus become 74 (427 to 353). The third position is the prerogative of Jonathan Rea (251 points), behind whom there are as many as four Italian riders: 227 points for Andrea Locatelli on Yamaha, while Axel Bassani, Danilo Petrucci and Michael Ruben Rinaldi have 227, 207, 155 and 147 points respectively.
The next round of the Sbk World Championship is scheduled for Sept. 9 and 10: concluding a long summer break, it will be raced at Magny-Cours, France, a historic circuit known for its presence on the Formula 1 World Championship calendar from 1991 to 2008.
