Grant Golden lands in Italy
First season in Europe for Grant Golden, who will be among the protagonists of the Italian top league: announcing his signing was the newly promoted Vanoli Cremona.
208 centimeters for 116 kilograms in weight, Golden was born on January 15, 1998, in Winchester, Virginia. He split his high school career years between Sherando High School in Stephens City in his home state and St. James School in Hagerstown, Maryland, where, as a senior, he completed the year with averages of 17.2 points, 10.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists, leading the team to the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference title. To begin his college career, he returned to Virginia, accepting an offer from the University of Richmond. He finishes his rookie season averaging over 15 points with 6.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists, in 30 minutes on the court. The following year he raises his averages to 17.2 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists. He plays three more seasons with the Spiders, each time being named to the second and third Atlantic 10 Conference quintet. He ends his senior year and college career with 13.7 points, 6 rebounds and 2.9 assists average.
Not selected at the 2022 draft, after an “Exhibit 10” contract signed with the Denver Nuggets, he plays the 2022/2023 G-League season with the Grand Rapids Gold closed at 17.2 points, 10.7 rebounds and 5.1 assists average in 32 games played with a high of 31 points against the Greensboro Swarm, 18 rebounds against the Oklahoma City Blue and a triple-double of 26 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists against the Delaware Blue Coats on Jan. 3, 2023.
