MotoGP, at Silverstone Marco Bezzecchi the fastest in the first free practice
It was Marco Bezzecchi the fastest in the first free practice session of the MotoGP class British Grand Prix at the Silverstone circuit. The 24-year-old from Rimini, third in the rainbow standings, was 36 thousandths ahead of his Ducati Mooney VR46 Racing teammate Luca Marini and Ducati Prima Pramac Racing Spaniard Jorge Martin by 75.
Fourth was the other Ducati Pramac, that of Frenchman Johann Zarco; fifth was Australian Jack Miller, the first rider not riding a Borgo Panigale bike; sixth was Spaniard Aleix Espargaro on an Aprilia; seventh was Franco Morbidelli, fresh from his “benservito” from the official Yamaha; and his teammate, Frenchman Fabio Quartararo, was tenth, behind the other Aprilia, that of Spaniard Maverick Vinales.
Francesco Bagnaia, the reigning world champion and leader of the world championship, did not go beyond 14th place with his factory Ducati but usually Pecco never pushes in the first sessions. Two positions ahead of him, 12th, is his teammate Enea Bastianini, while Spaniard Marc Marquez, on a Honda, is 15th. This afternoon the second free practice session, which from this Grand Prix, only for MotoGP, is independently valid to establish the top ten for tomorrow’s Q2, without combined ranking with the first session.
In Moto2 the fastest was the Spaniard Pedro Acosta ahead of the Thai Somkiat Chantra and the Spaniard Manuel Gonzalez, eleventh Tony Arbolino. Finally in Moto3 ahead of everyone is Spaniard Ivan Ortola ahead of compatriot Jaume Masia and Japanese Ayumu Sasaki, fourth Stefano Nepa.
