Pallacanestro Trieste in a statement made it official that Michele Ruzzier will remain with the Julian club again next season.
“Today’s is another very important announcement for the red-and-whites ahead of next season,” commented Pallacanestro Trieste General Manager Michael Arcieri. “Michele, as he has been throughout his career, will be fundamental to the performance of our team. He is an elite point guard with innate game-creating skills.”

He makes everyone around him better. His unobtrusive, yet assertive leadership style inspires confidence and gives Coach Christian an additional “coach on the court.” We are thrilled to have Michele back with us and warmly welcome him and his family back home.”
After taking his first steps in Azzurra’s youth academy, Michele Ruzzier moved to the red and white youth sector at the age of 17, eventually making his debut in the first team of Pallacanestro Trieste, in Serie B. From 2010 to 2014, “Ruz” wore the jersey of his hometown, and then landed in Serie A, among the ranks of Reyer Venezia, with which he would play two seasons. The 2020-2021 season sees him wearing the jersey of Pallacanestro Varese, where he closes the regular season in the top ten assist-man of the Italian Championship. The numbers in Varese land earned him a major call to Sergio Scariolo’s court. Michele then moves to Virtus Bologna in the 2021-2022 season and with the V Nere wins two Italian Supercups and the 2022 Eurocup.
The player’s desire to find more space led him to accept the proposal to return to wear the jersey of his city, so in November last year Michele moved back to Trieste, with which he played a good part of the championship, scoring over 7 points on average and distributing 4 assists per game. With the Under 20 national team he won the European Championship in 2013 and made his debut with the senior national team on February 20, 2020 during the Azzurri’s victory against Russia, valid for qualification for the European Championship. He collects a total of 18 appearances with the youth national teams, 6 with the experimental national team and 5 with the A national team.
