Sassuolo draws with Wolfsburg
In the last pre-season friendly match, Alessio Dionisi’s Sassuolo drew 1-1, Wind’s goal in the 26th minute for the hosts and Bajrami’s equalizer in the 42nd minute. The neroverdi get off to a better start: in the 5th minute Defrel’s initiative on the right, ball in the box for Pinamonti who by a whisker doesn’t get to the deflection, in the 7th minute Toljan comes to the conclusion in the box, his diagonal shot goes past Schulze but is printed on the post, in the 11th minute Matheus Henrique tries, his left-footed shot ends on the outside of the net. It seems done in the 14th minute with the excellent Lopez-Laurienté-Pinamonti maneuver but the action fades two steps from the Wolfsburg goal.
The hosts appeared in the Sassuolo area with a couple of corner kicks then in the 26th minute they took the lead with a left-footed shot from Wind that beat Consigli. The Emilians reacted right away: in the 36th minute Laurienté, from the left vertex of the area, returned to the right and let off a shot on the turn, Schulze could do nothing but the ball was still printed on the post. The guests’ efforts are rewarded in the 42nd minute with percussion and a right-footed shot by Bajrami that beats Schulze. Teams go to rest at 1-1.
Also in the second half the first chance is Sassuolo’s with an initiative on the left by Missori who enters the box in the 51′ and from a defiladed position forces Schulze into a corner. Pejcinovic answered in the 53rd minute, his right-footed shot finding Consigli reactive. Midway through the second half, back-and-forth with Pejcinovic on one side and Ceide on the other, no surprises from Consigli and Schulze respectively. Opportunity also for Mulattieri launched to the net in the 83rd minute, on him the defense recovers.
A minute later Sassuolo came close to hitting the jackpot: cross from the right by Toljan and Mulattieri’s deflection into the box, Schulze made a great intervention and on the rebound Defrel broke through, shooting high from a good position. A few more spurts from the neroverdi in the finale and a thrill for the home fans when Schulze risked dribbling Mulattieri just a step from the goal line.
