Eurobasket 2025 qualifiers: draw Tuesday

On Tuesday, Aug. 8, Italy will know its opponents in the qualifying round for the upcoming European Championship to be hosted from Aug. 27 to Sept. 14, 2025 jointly by Cyprus (Limassol), Finland (Tampere), Poland (Katowice) and Latvia (Riga).

The Azzurri have been placed in urn 2 with Lithuania, Greece and Germany and can only be drawn with opponents from urns 3, 6 and 7.

These are the urns:
Pot 1: Spain, France, Serbia, Slovenia
Pot 2: Lithuania, Greece, Italy, Germany
Pot 3: Czech Rep., Poland, Turkey, Montenegro
Pot 4: Finland, Croatia, Ukraine, Latvia
Pot 5: Belgium, Georgia, Israel, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Pot 6: Hungary, Estonia, Netherlands, Bulgaria
Pot 7: Great Britain, Iceland, Sweden, North Macedonia
Pot 8: Portugal, Denmark, Slovakia, Cyprus

The 32 participating teams will be drawn into 8 groups of 4 teams each. The competitions will be held within three “windows”: Feb. 19-27, 2024 (two competitions), Nov. 18-26, 2024 (two competitions) and Feb. 17-25, 2025 (two competitions).
The top three finishers in each round will qualify for the European Championships except for the rounds involving the host teams. Cyprus, Finland, Poland and Latvia are already sure of a pass and will compete out of the competition. Therefore, the top two ranked teams in their respective groups will qualify.
