Jannik Sinner raises the bar: “It would mean so much.”
Just hours before his debut match in Toronto against Matteo Berrettini, Jannik Sinner spoke about his ambitions for the second half of the season: “Winning a tournament like Toronto would mean so much. All the sacrifices, the hard work, the passion I have. Me and my team are working hard to hit the goal of winning this 1000 or other major events.”
The Italian tennis player feels ripe to aim for victory in a Masters 1000: “This year I am getting so close.”
“Cement courts are the ones I like the most,” the Italian continued in his press conference, “I proved it this year in Indian Wells and Miami. It is a surface where I feel very good.”
Sinner returns to competition after the three-week post-Wimbledon break: “We have been training very hard the past two weeks, it has been like facing a new ‘off-season.’ I am happy to compete again, to feel free on the court and to try to play my game. I’m quite confident, given the semifinal I reached at Wimbledon.”
