Matteo Spagnolo at Alba Berlin

One of the best young talents in Italian basketball, Matteo Spagnolo, is leaving Serie A to join Alba Berlin. Matteo Spagnolo, a 20-year-old point guard from Brindisi who grew up in Stella Azzurra Roma and then in the youth sector of Real Madrid, had played the last two seasons on loan from the Blancos first at Vanoli Cremona and then at Aquila Trento.

Just to hint at the player’s huge potential, Spagnolo was the 50th overall pick in last year’s NBA draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, with whom he played the Summer League, although he was later not confirmed.

Spagnolo will thus play the Euroleague with the Berliners, joining Gabriele Procida, who is a year older than him and has already been playing for the German capital’s team for a year. Spagnolo goes to Alba outright, on a three-year deal, taking him from Real, which after loans to Cremona and Trento decided to stop betting on him.
