The words of Ekaterina Antropova
Ekaterina Antropova is an Italian citizen, in fact, the 2003-born spiker in the afternoon swore allegiance to the Constitution and Laws of the Italian Republic, at the Municipality of Scandicci, completing the bureaucratic process for obtaining citizenship. Antropova will therefore be officially available to Italian coach Davide Mazzanti for the upcoming Women’s European Championship 2023, which will kick off on Tuesday, August 15, with the highly anticipated match at the Arena in Verona between the Azzurri and Romania (8 p.m.).
These are the first words of an excited Ekaterina, immediately after the oath: “It is a wonderful day that I have been waiting for a long time, I want to thank the Italian Volleyball Federation, the president of Coni Giovanni Malagò, the Minister of Sport Andrea Abodi, as well as all the institutions and people who have supported me in these months. I can’t wait to wear the blue jersey and take the court for Italy.”
Head Coach Davide Mazzanti chose Wednesday the 14 athletes who will take part in the European Championships scheduled in Italy, Estonia, Germany and Belgium from August 15 to September 3. The Azzurri will assemble on Sunday, Aug. 13 in Verona before opening the top continental competition against Romania on Aug. 15 in the spectacular setting of Verona’s Arena (8 p.m.).
