Marco Bezzecchi at a crossroads: possible farewell to Valentino Rossi
In a few days Marco Bezzecchi will have to choose his future. The rider from Rimini after the first splendid half of the World Championship harbors dreams of a title and wants an official Ducati for next season, but he will have to do so away from the VR46 team.
Ducati sport director Paolo Ciabatti was clear: “We know he deserves an official bike. But we only have four and we have to honor the contract with Pramac. And Marco Bezzecchi plans to stay with VR46 because he knows the team and he finds a perfect situation there. We don’t want to force him to make a decision,” Ciabatti said.
Bezzecchi could land at Pramac in place of Johann Zarco, who has reportedly been contacted by Honda, or stay another year to grow in the VR46 team, hoping for a place in the factory team from 2025.
Valentino Rossi’s team has asked in vain for an official bike for next season: “Pramac has the contractual option to get official bikes for the two riders. And if they exercise that option, we have to respect it. Also, for internal reasons, we can only provide four riders with official bikes. Building more bikes like this is a hassle. We did it for 2022, it didn’t work,” Ciabatti was crystal clear.
