Atalanta thins out the flanks: official farewell to Joakim Maehle
A new divestment, this time involving the strips.
Atalanta still active in the outgoing market. After losing Rasmus Hojlund, sold to Manchester United for 75 million euros plus 10 million in bonuses, Gian Piero Gasperini says goodbye to another pivot in his team. This time on the side lanes. Indeed, the Nerazzurri have made official the farewell of Joakim Maehle, who has moved permanently to Wolfsburg.
“Atalanta B.C. announces that it has definitively transferred to VFL Wolfsburg the right to the sports performance of the player Joakim Maehle, 26-year-old Danish outside forward who leaves the Nerazzurri club after two and a half seasons in which he collected 96 appearances between all competitions,” is the official note issued Saturday by the orbico club.
Joakim Maehle had arrived in Bergamo in January 2021, replacing Timothy Castagne who left Atalanta for Leicester City four months earlier. A right flanker who can also act on the left lane of the field, during the last preseason friendlies Gian Piero Gasperini had even tried him out in an unprecedented midfield inside position. For the sale of the Dane, the Bergamo club will collect about 13 million euros.
“Atalanta B.C. thanks and fondly bids farewell to Joakim, wishing him all the best for his new professional experience in Germany,” the orbico club added in the statement in which it made Maehle’s departure official.
