Charles De Ketelaere very close to Atalanta

Negotiations between Atalanta and AC Milan for the loan transfer of Charles De Ketelaere to the Orobici seem to be down to the details: according to ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ reports, the two clubs have overcome the impasse of the past few days, due to a commission issue, and are ready to put everything down on paper as early as the beginning of next week.

De Ketelaere, then, will leave AC Milan on a temporary basis, with the aim of regaining his Bruges polish and redeeming a season, his first in Italy, decidedly colorless, characterized by 40 appearances between league and cups (mostly, especially in the second half of the season, game segments) and no goals to his credit.

The formula that will bring the Belgian to Gian Piero Gasperini’s court is the onerous loan with right of redemption: Atalanta will immediately pay a sum of 3 million euros to Milan, and will have to pay another 23 million, at the end of next season, to keep the young player in the squad.

De Ketelaere’s bad season at AC Milan has also managed to condition him at the national team level: at the World Cup in Qatar he had received a call-up, playing one of the three matches in Belgium’s disappointing expedition, while earlier this summer the Red Devils’ new technical staff preferred to exclude him from the first Euro 2024 qualifying matches, perferring for him the call-up for the European Under-21 Championship.
