Genoa, Alberto Gilardino takes stock of the market
Alberto Gilardino takes stock
With two days to go before the match against Fiorentina that marks Genoa’s return to Serie A and, from a personal point of view, its debut in the top flight as a coach, Alberto Gilardino is charged up and aware that the market can still change many things.
“We are an open yard,” the coach, who won the 2006 World Cup as a player, told ‘Telenord.’ There are fifteen days left until the end of the market, I talk every day with the club because I know what it means to play in Serie A, I know what it entails to face this kind of category.”
“Players who have certain characteristics must be included, the club knows this,” Gilardino added. “It is essential to bridge the ‘gap’ with the higher category. The guys I have at my disposal and the newcomers are proving to be great professionals, they are eager to start this championship.”
Two important players have arrived in the attack, Mateo Retegui and Junior Messias: “The former comes from a league that ended a month ago, he should be left to work. I speak to him from a tactical point of view but he already has that guile that is needed. The second is ductile, quality, jumps man: we need to find the right form to enhance the qualities of both.”
