Lin Jarvis won’t stand for it: ‘Nobody wants a Ducati Cup’
Yamaha boss Lin Jarvis gave an interview to Speedweek in which he attacked Ducati, which competes with as many as eight bikes in MotoGp. “Six would be enough,” he admitted, “With today’s rules and sprinting, they have too much data. With modern computers and evaluation possibilities, their advantage is too big. No one wants a Ducati Cup. Even Carmelo Ezpeleta would prefer to have four bikes from each manufacturer on the grid.”
“Our focus is on new rules for 2026, but first we have to look at 2024 and 2025. The rules must be the same for everyone and ensure hard-fought races without exorbitant costs. They must be designed to motivate other manufacturers to enter MotoGP,” he added.
One of these is BMW: “It has been talked about for many years, but it has no plans to really enter. KTM is a good example because it has found that this is the best way to enter the global market. Maybe Triumph could still be an option. But first we have to keep the current manufacturers here.”
