Omar Camporese peremptory over Jannik Sinner
Former Italian tennis player Omar Camporese has sent clear advice to the spearhead of Italian tennis, Jannik Sinner: according to the former Bologna athlete, the South Tyrolean player has enormous potential but needs to calm down during matches.
“He is already modifying and varying his game. He lacks a little something. Even at Wimbledon, against Djokovic, he had some chances. He didn’t take advantage of them. He needs to play more calmly. Look for points without always challenging the limit. Waiting as Djokovic and Alcaraz do for the right opportunity, to hit at the most opportune moment,” are his words to Il Resto del Carlino.
According to Camporese Sinner has all the skills to win a Slam: “I think Sinner could do it. Right now Alcaraz and Djokovic have something more. But behind these two, I see him. Plus Djokovic has to deal with advancing age. While Alcaraz suffers from some of Sinner’s characteristics.”
On his Davis Cup lineup: “Jannik just won the Toronto Masters 1000, confirming his growth and progress. No touching. Musetti and Sonego last year played incredible matches. And then there is the doubles that is too important. So Fognini and Bolelli must always be there. I would have left Berrettini out. Matteo comes from a complicated year, between aches and injuries he is still recovering. The sacrifice, for me, would have been him.”
