Serie B: Fabio Grosso puts Palermo and Parma ahead of them all
The words of Fabio Grosso
Fabio Grosso, former coach of Frosinone with whom he gained promotion to Serie A, gave an interview to ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ in which he talked about the new Serie B, pointing out his favorites.
“There are so many solid clubs: if they find the right people, they can take off,” he began, “Even last year it was like that and so many declared themselves, now they do it less because expectations can penalize you, given what happened to Spal and Benevento, or to Perugia.
According to the 2006 world champion, Palermo and Parma start ahead of everyone: “They and Parma, yes. Now in Palermo there is also the sports center and this is decisive to build a path. Successes are built in a home. Continuity is decisive, you can always add something. And Parma seems to me to be on this path, if it finds the right spirit. It has strong players, who already did well last season. If they all row on the same side, the boat will sail.”
“Sampdoria remains a prestigious, fascinating club, but it is starting from scratch and in any case it is structuring itself well,” he added. “Genoa had a very solid base, which Gila has made end up growing. Cremonese and Spezia I consider them favorites by right, those who come down from A have a different structure from the others, but they also have a disappointment to get over. They have to ‘mentalize’ quickly, however, the quality is there.”
Finally, he identified a possible outsider: “Possible surprise of the next cadet tournament? Venezia, which was already strong last year. It has many players I like and a very forward-looking management. And then I say Cosenza, it can do better than in recent years. And Modena.”
