Roberto Mancini è the new technical commissioner of Saudi Arabia. After the abrupt and controversial farewell to the Italian national team, the coach from Jesi starts again immediately on the bench of the selection of Riyadh: è came the official announcement that confirmed the rumors that had been circulating for days.
Mancini will be presented on Aug. 28 at 4 p.m. Italian time in a hotel in the Saudi capital: the Gazzetta dello Sport reports.
The former Italy coach is about to sign a four-year contract worth 25 million euros a season net, and will make his debut on the bench already on Sept. 8 against Costa Rica. In January he will be tasked with winning the Asian Cup of Nations, organized for the first time in history by Saudi Arabia itself.
Then the focus will shift to qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, which it will try to win after failing with the Italian national team: in the group Saudi Arabia is included with Jordan, Tajikistan and one between Cambodia and Pakistan.
