Us Open, Camila Giorgi fails the feat: passes Pegula
Nothing to do for Camila Giorgi on her debut at the Us Open. The tennis player from the Marche region, in fact, è fell against the number three seed Jessica Pegula, who handed her a double 6-2 in less than an hour and a half of play.
It was an immediate uphill start for the Italian, who suffered a break in the opening set. Pegula got another in the seventh game and went on to serve for the first set, closing 6-2. In the second set to make the difference è the fifth game: Giorgi fights for a quarter of an hour and manages to cancel as many as six break points, but at the seventh she surrenders. Pegula strung together four consecutive games and closed the second partial 6-2 as well.
Giorgi must thus abandon the American Slam while the world number three will face the winner of the match between Canadian Rebecco Marino and Romanian Patricia Maria Tig.
