L'Italvolley flies to the semifinals of the 2023 Women's European Championships. The Azzurre beat France in three sets (25-14, 29-27, 25-13) and enter among the best four national teams in the tournament. On Friday, September 1 in Brussels they will take on the winner of the challenge between Poland and Turkey.
Seventh consecutive win for Davide Mazzanti’s girls who have yet to concede a set in the entire tournament. The Azzurri got off to a rocket start (7-0), signing an already decisive stretch to win the first set without any problems. In the second set però things change and France plays it even, even getting two set points. Italy, manages to save itself, also thanks to the entrance of Paola Egonu and closes in the advantages for 29-27.
Overcoming the scare, the third partial è a formality for Italy that dominates as in the first and closes at the second match point on 25-13 thanks to an error by Gicquel. To be noted a super performance of Elena Pietrini, author of 13 points. Not to be outdone Ekaterina Antropova, once again preferred to Paola Egonu, who closes with an impressive 6 walls.
