Jannik Sinner, besides the damage the mockery: record blurred

Jannik Sinner è was defeated by Alexander Zverev, number twelve in the ATP rankings, in the Us Open round of 16 in five sets (4-6 6-3 2-6 6-4 3-6) after four hours and forty minutes of play. The South Tyrolean tennis player, who was dreaming of a rematch against Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals after last year&#39s epic battle, had to surrender to the German, who had already defeated him two years ago at Flushing Meadows.

In addition to the defeat suffered, there è a further mockery for the Italian. Jannik, in fact, in the event that he had beaten Zverev, would have achieved his personal best ranking, rising to number five in the world rankings, surpassing the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, who exited in the second round of the American Slam at the hands of the Swiss Dominic Stricker.

Soì it did not go, and indeed with Andrey Rublev’s victory over Jack Draper, Sinner was overtaken by the Russian tennis player and will drop to seventh in the world ranking at the end of the Us Open (barring exploits by Taylor Fritz or Zverev himself).

As far as the Race is concerned, Sinner, on the other hand, canò smile, stably fourth in the rankings and getting closer and closer to qualifying for the ATP Finals in Turin.
