Slam semifinal number 47 for Novak Djokovic

There was no history in the first quarterfinal of the US Open 2023: Novak Djokovic defeated the American Taylor Fritz 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 in two hours and thirty-eight minutes of play, thus qualifying for the semifinals of the American Slam, which he has already won three times in his career (although the last success dates back to 2018).

For Nole, the success is worth an incredible record, to say the least, because the one he will play will be the semifinal number 47 in a Slam tournament: detached, in the special ranking, Roger Federer, who ended his career with 46 appearances among the top four in the most important tournaments on the calendar (Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and, indeed, US Open).

The match played in Flushing Meadows against the San Diego native did not hold any major twists and turns from the point of view of performance: Djokovic lost only twice a game on his own serve and suffered a bit more only in the third set, when Fritz è led 3-2 before surrendering in four of the next five games.

Djokovic thus remains on course to win his 24th Grand Slam tournament: this season he triumphed in Australia and Roland Garros, while at Wimbledon è he made it all the way to the final act, where he was surprised by Carlos Alcaraz, however.
