Italvolley advances: North Macedonia doesn’t stand a chance
European men’s volleyball, Italy-Northern Macedonia 3-0
North Macedonia turned out to be a far from difficult obstacle to overcome for the Italian men’s national volleyball team, which annihilated its opponents at the Palaflorio in Bari, thus gaining access to the quarterfinals of the European Championships 2023.
The partials of the three sets, won by the Azzurri 25-20, 25-12, 25-15, explain very well the trend of a match that never saw the Macedonians put their heads forward, at any time of the match: Simone Giannelli and his teammates were able to easily close the match and can thus already think about the next match, always scheduled in the Palaflorio of Bari.
Italy had arrived at the match against North Macedonia on the strength of a round passed, at the PalaRossini in Ancona, with full points: against Belgium, Estonia, Serbia and Switzerland had come as many 3-0, while in the last irrelevant match against Germany it had taken the tie-break for the 5 out of 5.
The Italian national team, at the men’s level, has already won the competition seven times and is the holder of the trophy, which it won two years ago by beating Slovenia 3 sets to 2 in front of 7,000 spectators at the Spodek arena in Katowice, Poland.
