Davide Ballerini will return to Astana

Davide Ballerini has decided what will be his future: in fact, the 1994 class rider has signed an agreement with Astana-Qazaqstan, with the aim of returning to the splendor of 2019, the year in which among other things, with the national team jersey, he won the European Games road race.

In 2020 Ballerini changed teams, choosing Deceuninck-Quick Step (now Soudal-Quick Step): in three seasons he won six races but had few opportunities to show off in the big classics, given the priority given to Remco Evenepoel at the strategy level.

Ballerini’s path is distantly reminiscent of Vincenzo Nibali’s: the Shark è also passed twice from Astana, first between 2013 and 2016 and then in 2022, going on to end his career precisely with the sky blue jersey of the team founded from the ashes of ONCE and Liberty Seguros.

"I know the team very well,” Ballerini told official team channels, “è a solid group where people know how to work, how to create a good environment, how to win. I expect great things in the coming season and I am sure that everything will go the right way for both me and the team. Goals? I would like to focus on the northern classics and especially Paris-Roubaix".
