Europa League: good first for Roma, Lukaku decisive

At the Stadionul Sheriff in Tiraspol, Roma started their Europa League adventure well by beating the local Moldovan team, precisely Sheriff Tiraspol, 2-1.

The first chance è for Roma on 25’ with Cristante whose shot from distance was parried to the ground by Koval. On 28’ Renato Sanches has to leave and Paredes enters in his place. At 30’ Lukaku for El Shaarawy, volley just outside.

On 35’ Sheriff’s post: cross by Talal, clpo safe shot by Ngom Mbekeli that is printed on the inside upright of the Giallorossi goal. At 36’ another chance for El Shaarawy who again sends just wide. In the fourth minute of the first half Roma took the lead: Paredes’ free kick that Kiki deflects into his own goal.

In the third minute of the resumption again Ngom Mbekeli comes close to scoring for the hosts, who equalize at 57’: scramble in the area from a corner kick and Tovar’s conclusion that ends up in the bag. But on 65’ Roma, after another chance for ElShaarawy, took the lead again precisely with new signing Lukaku who, served by Cristante, controlled and with his left beat Koval.

In the final a’chance for Paredes, shot blocked by Koval, and for Belotti, who entered in place of Lukaku, who sends just wide but’in the 90’that there are two resounding chances on either side: first Cristante has his shot parried by Koval, then Slivar saves miraculously in the corner on a touch from two steps by Talal. At the expiration of the seventh and final minute of added time Fernandes was sent off for a last man foul on Dybala.
