Flop Italvolley: Mazzanti’s replacement chosen, Paola Egonu returns
The women's Italvolley is heading for a revolution after the flop at the Pre-Olympic in Poland. If all goes well, the Azzurre will qualify for the Olympics in any case thanks to the ranking, but Davide Mazzanti's experience on the bench of the national team è now at the end of the line.
The Azzurri coach è under accusation for having divided the group at the last European Championships: in his place could arrive a name of certain reliability as Julio Velasco, who will have the task of calming the environment and recalling some staples of the National team as Paola Egonu and Cristina Chirichella.
The Argentine-born coach, currently in Busto Arsizio, has a clause that allows him to free himself in case of a call from the national team.
Velasco è a name of certain reliability, already historical coach of the men’s and women’s national teams: with the men he won two world titles and three European ones in the '90s, as well as an Olympic silver medal.
