Jannik Sinner in history: beats Carlos Alcaraz and enters Top 5

Jannik Sinner enters Italian tennis history with his victory over Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals of the Beijing ATP 500. The South Tyrolean tennis player, in fact, will become world No. 4 next Monday, equaling an Italian tennis legend like Adriano Panatta. 

7-6 6-1 the score accrued in favor of the Italian after almost two hours of play. After a rather difficult start for Jannik, who twice had to recover a break disadvantage, the match è remained in balance until the tie-break where the forehand made the difference, positively for Sinner, and negatively for Alcaraz, handing the first partial to the South Tyrolean.

In the second set Sinner immediately took the lead, flying to 2-0. Alcaraz tried to fight back by climbing to 2-1 0-40 but Sinner repelled the Murcian’s comeback attempt and è took the remaining four games, closing out the second partial 6-1.

In the final Sinner will face Daniil Medvedev, who beat Alexander Zverev in two sets in the other semifinal.
