An additional record to underscore the magic of the moment it is experiencing.

Jannik Sinner in Italian tennis history, even more so. The formidable South Tyrolean not only recently took the No. 4 position in the ATP rankings and, by beating Marcos Giron in his debut in the Shanghai Masters 1000, he è guaranteed himself participation in the ATP Finals in Turin. His success in China in fact guaranteed him a result that only two great Italians had achieved before him.

Sinner è in fact arrived at victory number 50 during a single season. A roster that before him only Adriano Panatta (53 wins in 1973) and Corrado Barazzutti (54 wins in 1978) had been able to sustain, but with two differences. The first è that the talent from San Candido still has the chance è to get more, but more importantly such a result è came by playing a much smaller number of matches.

In fact, Sinner’s season winning percentage è was 79 percent, as his 50 wins were accompanied by only 13 losses. In contrast, both of his predecessors had lost 28 times, thus achieving a percentage of 66% (Barazzutti) and 65% (Panatta). It is also important to point out that during 2023 only Carlos Alcaraz (61) and Daniil Medvedev (60) did better than the Blue.
