Jannik Sinner, winning debut in Shanghai and qualification achieved at ATP Finals

Winning debut for Jannik Sinner at the Shanghai Masters 1000. The South Tyrolean tennis player, in fact, overcame the US player Marcos Giron, number 80 in the world rankings, in two sets with the score of 7-6 6-2 after one hour and forty-five minutes of play. With this victory, the Italian reached the arithmetic qualification to the ATP Finals in Turin.

An uphill start for Jannik, who gave up the serve in the second game and immediately had to chase his opponent. In the seventh game Sinner recovers the break disadvantage, bringing the match back into balance. It thus comes to the tie-break where the Italian still has to chase Giron, but thanks also to a bit of luck, he manages to overturn the score and win the tie-break 9-7, cancelling no less than 4 set points.

With the momentum totally in his favor, in the second set the South Tyrolean immediately runs away 2-0. Giron immediately recovered the losing break but his comeback attempt was short-lived: Sinner placed a new and devisive stretch and also won the second set, closing it 6-2.

With this success Sinner reaches the sixteenth round of the Chinese tournament where he will face Sebastian Baez of Argentina, the number 25 seed in the seeding.
